3 months healed. Haven’t posted in awhile but here’s my scar. I had a great healing process with very little difficulty. As you can see it’s still very red and I’m hoping that will stay around for awhile.
Yesterday (9/9/11) was one month since my cutting! The healing is going great and I’m starting to see slight raising along the scar lines. The lines at the top of the flower are a bit wider because they’re near the bend in my elbow so that area gets stretched and irritated a lot more. But overall it looks fantastic and I’m totally in love with it. And I love the texture it adds to my arm.
Tuesday (8/30) was 3 weeks. It looks great but it’s definitely getting itchy. It’s also getting really tight. Sometimes when I stretch my arm out it’ll kind of ‘pinch’. I notice it more when I’m colder, like when I’m at home or at work in the air conditioning, times when my skin would be more constricted.
I can also see areas where it’s just starting to get a little silvery. Which is kinda cool because its starting to scar up a bit. I’ll be sad when the redness fades but it’s inevitable.
Week 2!!! Again, not much scabbing left, mostly just a smooth pink scar with the exception of some rather irritating ingrown hairs that keep popping up. (I’m a pretty hairy guy so I should have figured that this was going to happen) I tried exfoliating the area today to help with the problem but…we’ll see. Other than the blemishes from that the actual scar looks flawless. The lines look clean and well defined and I’m really excited to watch the healing process continue!
Day 9 and Day 11. Most of the scabs are gone, very pink, no longer bright red. I found an ingrown hair along one section of the scar near the base of the stem. I was able to dig it out with a (clean) needle. So it’s possible that spot may scar a little unevenly, though I’m not super worried about it.
Sooo, yeah I haven’t been updating this like I wanted to but here’s the catch up. Here’s my scar celebrating it’s 1 week old birthday! It was super scabby and rough but not painful. Thought I did have some discomfort as the scab would dry out and kind of pull and hurt if I twisted my arm a certain way. Over all it was still very red but not as pretty. Also, you can see in the close up picture of the flower head that the area closed to my elbow joint is more red and irritated than other areas. Because of its location that skin gets moved and stretched a lot more than any other part so I have a feeling I’ll probably end up with a slightly larger scar there around the rim than on the petals.
Day 6. It’s super scabby. The kind of scabs that have little rough edges that beg to be picked at.
Must…fight…temptation…arg!!!
It’s also a little itchy around the cut because my arm hair is starting to grow back. But overall it’s pretty chill. I’m not as constantly aware of it as I was the first few days. I feel like I’m doing something wrong because I’m not in horrible, round-the-clock pain, also because it’s healing up pretty quick. I’ve been following my aftercare instructions to the letter with very little variation. But then again everyone’s skin is going to react and heal differently so…who knows *shrug*
